Welcome
Greetings!
I’d like to thank the Kentucky JC Senators for electing me President for the 2013-2014 year. I hope this year will be fun and exciting for us. I would also like to take this time to thank the individuals who accepted the positions on our Board this year. They will be known as: The Dream Team. As many of you who know me know I have big goals and Believe in many things that people say may never come true, so my theme this year is Believe in Dreams.
Our first Big Event will be the 9th Annual Bourbon Bash held in Bardstown, August 1-4, 2013. If you haven’t been to an event in awhile this is the one to attend. We have great food, visit with friends, and have fun all weekend. What a great job Jim Dulin does organizing and the individuals working.
Our first Board meeting will be held the weekend of October 4-5 2013, the meeting will be held in Lexington and at this time we are planning to spend the day at Keeneland. We decided May of this year we would not sit around, but do fun stuff. What could be more fun than going to Keeneland’s Fall Meet and WINNING MONEY!!!!
In January we are planning again to have our joint meeting with the Indiana Senate. This year it will be held in Louisville. The date has not been scheduled due to the Winter Board. As soon as we know that date we will schedule our meeting date.
Kentucky will be hosting the Region V Spring Fling in March. The dates are March 13-15, 2014; Cyndi Thornburg-Schnell will be working on it, so please contact her and volunteer your help.
A newsletter will be sent every other month so beware if I haven’t seen you at an event or Membership Meeting in awhile be on the look out for them. Also, please note that Laura Kronauer will be doing our newsletter this year.
Last year President Will started a cause to donate to a Foundation. What a great idea! I want to keep that same tradition and this year mine will be Autism. Why? I had a member ask? I’m not sure why but, this is a cause that that weighs on my heart. So, this year we will be doing some special projects to raise money for Autism. So let’s work together to find a cure.
As my theme says Believe in Dreams! I do, I always have and I always will. I can reach for the stars and so can you.
